Casa Mattia and Casa Mami are two cozy flats situated in a wing of the historic Palazzo Grottanelli, which has been recently restored. The building is next to the ancient walls of a 13th century castle.
With the renovation, the original structure of the Palazzo has been maintained and great care has been taken to underline the most remarkable architectural and structural parts by creating refined spaces where the local traditions and the comforts of modern life melt together, without forgetting the functionality and the practicality of those spaces themselves.
We are in Montepescali, a quiet medieval village situated on top of a hill cultivated with olive trees and Mediterranean scrub, near Grossseto. The village, thanks to a 360° view of the surrounding countryside, has been defined as Maremma's Balcony.
WHERE TO GO
Just a few kms away from Montepescali you can find many famous beaches on the coast (Castiglione della Pescaia, Roccamare, Cala Violina, Punta Ala, Follonica, Marina di Grosseto, Alberese with the Maremma Natural Park, etc..); you can visit the archeological sites of Vetulonia and Roselle, and enjoy the appealing village of Massa Marittima and its Mineral Park, an acknowledged herENGge site of Unesco; or simply let yourself be captivated by the charm of Maremma.
The thermal establishments of Saturnia are situated about 70 kms away from us. Not far from there you will find the characteristic villages of Sorano, Sovana (Etruscan site) and Pitigliano (known as the little Jerusalem in tuff). The promontory of Monte Argentario, with its "calette" of crystal clear sea is also 70 kms away, as well as Orbetello lagoon, the Giannella beaches, the natural oasis of Feniglia, and the Giglio Island.
WHAT TO DO
The Montepascali area, as well as the whole of Maremma, is the ideal place for beautiful walks in the countryside on foot or by horse, or using a mountain bike. It is also possible to enjoy tours by motorbike.
Or you can enjoy yourself at the beach, windsurfing, kitesurfing, playing beach volleyball, beach tennis or on a sail boat.
To the lovers of good food the Maremma offers many countryside festivals where you can taste the typical products of the area, such as the "Sagra del Cinghiale e del Tortello" that takes place every year during the first days of August in Montepescali.
